‘The Mediator’, exposes 200 years of Jewish history through the eyes of Zalman Tzoref, the founder of the Salomon Dynasty in Israel, which today counts more than 20,000 descendants. Zalman first leads us on his journey from his home town Keidaniai in Lithuania to Jerusalem, where he arrived over 200 years ago. He then reveals the role of his dynasty in Israel in the years to come.
The program combines new and old film footage, shot in Europe and in Israel. In between the different sections of Zalman’s story are incorporated short animated stories depicting historic events and family legends, stills from various archives, and original songs about Zalman’s life, presented by three klezmers.
