Rockin’ Rabbi-Cantor Robbi Sherwin

“Rockin” Rabbi-Cantor Robbi Sherwin (R3 “R-cubed”) was one of the founders of Kol Halev in 1997, along with clergy partner, Rabbi Kerry Baker, z”l and she is grateful to continue to serve her Kol Halev family for nearly three decades years after CKH was founded, commuting from Colorado.
Ordained as both a rabbi and a cantor, she travels the world as a Rabbi/Cantor and Artist-in-Residence, specializing in Jewish retreats and congregational songwriting. She brings an infectious love of Judaism to all – babies to Bubbies! An award-winning, multi-published composer of over 100 Jewish songs, Robbi tours and records. Her popular folk-rock band, Sababa! with Steve Brodsky and Scott Leader, has recorded 6 CDs of original Jewish folk/rock music. Her spirited Jewish song–crafting has been published, sung, recorded, and performed from Tulsa to Tel Aviv, Seattle to Sydney. She is also one of the first female artists featured on Jewish Rock Radio.
Robbi is also a Storahtelling Maven, past president of the Women Cantors’ Network, a life member of Hadassah, and a member of the National Council for Jewish Women and the Sisterhood of Salaam Shalom. Robbi has been singing, teaching, and performing for decades and especially loves mentoring emerging young Jewish adults – she is a sought-after b’nai mitzvah tutor. Her passions for social justice include women’s reproductive rights, LGBTQ+ issues, Israel, and immigration.
She has served as the Rabbi/Cantor of the Wood River Jewish Community in Sun Valley, Idaho; Congregation B’nai Butte in Crested Butte, Colorado; Temple Mt. Sinai in El Paso, Texas; Congregation Beth Evergreen in Evergreen, Colorado; and got her start as a cantorial soloist at Austin’s Congregation Beth Israel.
Robbi and her husband of 43 years, Mark Jordan, are happily enjoying the Rocky Mountain “chai” life in The Pinery, Colorado. They have three grown kids (son, Sam, for decades has played drums at High Holiday for Kol Halev!) and four perfect grandchildren.
